Changes
For those who read this, follow me, or stay and watch the experiences, memories, and changes unfold on this page, I would like to extend my gratitude.
It’s been a while, and I have been personally silent on this page while my family and Artemis have continued to experience incredible moments; life has been quiet on the horse dream. So, here are a few updates.
My family and I moved from Nebraska to Virginia at the beginning of 2024. We initially planned to start putting roots in the Richmond area, but that gradually shifted to needing to move further north, closer to the NOVA area, as that is where the job opportunities are for my husband and me. I finally graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a Bachelor’s in Management Information Systems at the end of 2024. That was a great accomplishment and a weight lifted off my shoulders.
Living outside of Richmond, I have come to appreciate small things, such as my daughter's school and, especially, the equine people I have met through Artemis. I will be sad once again to leave the connections I have made here on the equine side and for my daughter to switch schools.
My eldest daughter, Lara, has had the most delightful time experiencing her first horse rides this past year on the adorable mini Pria. She has also had the opportunity to ride Artemis occasionally, which fills me with immense joy. My youngest, Heather, is still unsure about horses, finding them a bit too big, but we're working on it, and it's quite a humorous journey.
Personally, one of my most incredible experiences so far has been working just one night a week on foal watch for an equine vet in the area and experiencing firsts that I had only previously encountered through CSUVetCE Foaling and Foaling Care, as well as what I learned during my Veterinary Technology degree, plus my limit experience at my old barn in Nebraska. I can never stress enough how much I miss the field, but knowing that doing little moments like this is what I need to do.
In the next five years, I hope to share the news that we've finally acquired our own little horse property. I look forward to updating you on the shows we participate in and the experiences Artemis and I have along the way. Our ultimate dream remains to breed Foundation-Bred Appaloosa horses, and we're excited to see where this journey takes us.
Artemis is riding in Western and English, having done a bit more jumping with a great friend. While our riding consistency is never where I want it to be due to my busy mom life, she is well-loved, has had a fantastic training and riding start, and I am continuously smitten with her and our riding.
Currently, we are a family with young kids, striving to live a fulfilling life while remaining humble and taking the necessary steps to achieve the success and comfort we seek for our family.
Thank you for reading. Stay safe, stay well, and enjoy the horse life if you can. I consider us the lucky ones in that regard.
